Meet Farmer Tammy in the barn via Zoom on Saturday, April 24 from 5 - 6 pm EST for our Monthly Barn Chat!
We'll chat this month with two accomplished knitwear designers, Mary Jane Mucklestone & Gudrun Johnston. Gudrun and Mary Jane have been sharing adventures to the Shetland Islands for years and both have a prestigious background in design and published works as writers.
Gudrun has followed in her mother’s footsteps, Patricia Johnston, The Shetland Trader, and has made a name for herself among a new generation of knitwear designers, using the internet to directly interact with an international community of knitters. She has self published two collections of knitwear inspired by the Shetland islands, The Shetland Trader Book One and Book Two.Gudrun often includes aspects of her Shetland heritage in her designs, mostly utilizing traditional lace patterns in a contemporary context. She also loves to design using seamless construction and is always adding new techniques to her seamless knitting skills. Most recently she is exploring Fair Isle knitting.
Mary Jane has written four books: 200 Fair Isle Motifs, 150 Scandinavian Motifs, 150 Scandinavian Knitting Designs, and Fair Isle Style. She is a knitwear designer, specializing in Fair Isle knitting, also called stranded knitting. She travels around the world connecting with the amazing and diverse fiber community by teaching handknitting classes. Sharing her knitting knowledge is a joy. Mary Jane has over 122 published designs just on Ravelry, let alone in books and publications all over the world.
This gathering is sure to be a wonderfully entertaining hour in which we'll take a trip to Shetland and talk about all things knitting and wooly wonders with these two fabulous friends.
