Folk Fibers is in the barn via Zoom on Saturday, June 19 from 5 - 6 pm EST for our Monthly Barn Chat!
This month, mother and daughter Natural Dyeing duos Maura and Ada Ambrose & Tammy and Char White will share what it's like working together with botanical dyeing, be it on natural fibers for quilting or natural fibers for weaving, crocheting, knitting, mending and more. How do we work with the world immediately around us to harvest and forage without harming the earth, working within our means to balance family and work and keep our hearts full by keeping our hands busy and our minds inspired with creative and beautiful endeavors?
A little about Maura Ambrose of Folk Fibers: Folk Fibers is the creation of Maura Grace Ambrose (maura@folkfibers.com). She was educated in Textile Design + Fiber Arts, at Savannah College of Art & Design. Her goal is to share the craft and folklore that prevails around natural dyes and quilting. She uses natural dyes to dye her favorite fabrics used in the making of my quilts. She patchworks her dyed fabric with other fabrics, both vintage & new. She is faithful to using 100% natural fibers and favors solid colors for their timeless appeal.
Her Folk Fibers quilts are entirely hand quilted at her home in Austin Texas. Her passion for quilting is rooted in the love and beauty achieved from hand stitching. The art of hand quilting does take more time, but the results are greater and more valuable than a manufactured quilt.
She organically grows, harvests, and forages for natural dyes around Austin.
Bring your questions about natural dyeing, quilting, farming, gardening and more to our hour together. SJ Larkspur, Tammy's daughter, will be co-hosting our Zoom gathering and keep our session running smoothly to relay your inquiries and comments. There'll be Trivia Giveaways, too, with sponsored gifts.
Bring a notepad and pen, too, in case you want to jot down any tips and tricks from our time together.
Can't wait to see you!
